For evaluation and demonstrating purposes acticom offers a demonstration system based on the Linux operating system. The ROHC stack has been integrated in the linux kernel on top of an ethernet device driver and includes an error simulator for modeling a wireless link. This makes it possible to evaluate the benefits of ROHC for IP-based communication between two PCs equipped with wired or wireless network interface cards, through, for example, comparison with non-ROHC-based transmissions. A user-friendly graphic user interface provides easy access to ROHC and error generator parameters.

The acticom ROHC demonstration system provides functionality for testing and evaluating ROHC performance for real-time traffic situations, such as Voice-over-IP. A log-based analysis functionality for evaluating the generated traces is also included.

Please Note:
The performance evaluation tool measures the network quality. Additional quality measurement levels (e.g. end-to-end audio or video) will also be available in future releases.
ROHC short info

Robust header compression increases the amount of resources available to their customers resulting in an improved "return on investment"

Robust header compression uses a connection oriented approach to remove packet inter- and intra-dependencies and reduces header-payload significantly
